SARAJEVO BOSNIA: The next few days, January 23 through Thursday January 26, will be a time which we are asking you to cover the ministry in Bosnia with prayer. The spiritual warfare that is an on-going reality daily here is increasing each day as we go through this week. A special meeting by a large group of local businessmen, city council officials and the Bosnia Sports Foundation represented by two of the young leaders that are integral to the work here will be more a focus of a unique spiritual battle.
We believe that the Spirit is moving within the lives of these young men and the blessing that God is pouring out upon the work here has gained an undesired attention from those who would prefer to see God’s work fail. The Bible says that we are to be thankful when we are persecuted for righteousness sake and in that way we are truly thankful. A great deal of media attention, five television stories, newspaper articles and an upcoming magazine feature on our outreach to young women and girls has garnered some of the attention. Brad was approached last night and asked to do an interview with Al Jazeera regarding the work here also.
Sarajevo has been selected for the 2017 Junior Winter Olympics. It will bring a new arena attached to the Zetra sports complex. With that will come two national teams, one boys; one girls. Two of our leaders have been chosen to coach each of those national teams. That has created great consternation among some but we believe that it is the spiritual movement in the undercurrent among our young men is the instigating factor in the battle.
In the last few weeks Brad’s home has been burglarized, although nothing taken it is obvious that there was a search for something specific. Nezdad’s vehicle has been seriously vandalized. On Thursday of this week one of the major decisions that is to be finalized is to remove an individual from a position of power in the old sports organization. The political intrigue is just an everyday part of life in Bosnia.
We appreciate your prayers and your deep concern for the ministry here. Our Sports Foundation has always sought to care for the young people here, getting them out of harm’s way, helping them get through primary school and now we have several in university. With this help has come relationship building, teaching these amazing young folks life skills based on biblical principles, leadership training and introducing them to a life of faith.
