BAT-MAN IDENTITY REVEALED

“In 2014, the NIH approved a grant to EcoHealth Alliance designated for research into “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.”

Dr. Ross L. Riggs author’s note: The following is strictly the opinion of the author. No one affiliated with Dr. Riggs, SCI or its subsidiaries are represented by these remarks.

Over the past two weeks speculation has begun to emerge based on records which seem to indicate that in 2013 – 2014, the National Institute of Health (NIH) , specifically the infections disease research branch under the direction of Anthony Fauci, Director NIAD was working on research involving what has come to be known as COVID-19 or the Coronavirus. According to news reports, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security stopped all research with this particular virus strain and all funding for the research was halted in 2014. Sources report that in 2015 under the administration of President Obama, a U.S. federal grant for $3.7 million dollars was submitted, administered and approved for research on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) under  Director Fauci. The award went to investigate the direct relationships of bats to COVID-19. The research facility was in Wuhan, China. Is this true?

Some believe this news clears up a deeper mystery as to the true identity of Batman. Was it really Bruce Wayne? Perhaps, it is not Batman but Director Fauci might be Bat – man.

Some place a great amount of faith in groups like SNOPES, USA Today’s FACT CHECK and others because they “get to the truth!” I won’t go into the lunacy of trusting a media outlet which makes its money on its ability to sensationaize news to ‘fact check’ other media outlets who make money to sensationalize news. But, to be fair, let us look at the headline presented by USA Today on May 4, 2020.

Fact check: Obama administration did not send $3.7 million to Wuhan lab

Matthew Brown and Kim Hjelmgaard USA TODAY[i]

So, that settles it, right? The media reported it. Those in political circles who should know the truth verified it in political speak terms; but, FACT CHECK and these two writers at USA Today say, NOPE, did not happen. Well… that is stretching the blanket just a bit. Let us take time to read the article, or at last let me share the primary points, you can Google the entire article if you like.

“The claims that the Obama administration funded coronavirus research may be referring to a grant provided by the National Institutes of Health to EcoHealth Alliance, a research group that tracks emerging diseases. The grant is directly overseen by the NIH, and it continued under the Trump administration until it was recently rescinded.”

Okay, so there WAS a grant. We’ll see that it was $3.7 million of TAX PAYER $. But it went to EcoHealth Alliance so… WUHAN is off the hook and so is Fauci, NIH, and Obama. Not really. Keep reading.

“The EcoHealth Alliance is a nongovernmental research group that focuses on emerging diseases caused by human and animal interactions. The National Institutes of Health has consistently funded the organization for projects since at least 2002.” Every business owner needs a rich ‘uncle’.

“In 2014, the NIH approved a grant to EcoHealth Alliance designated for research into “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence.” The project involved collaborating with researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology to study coronaviruses in bats and the risk of potential transfer to humans.”

SO…. there WAS a grant. It was for $3.7 million or so of U.S. citizens’ tax dollars. That is true.

The grant did focus on CORONAVIRUS and BATS. That is true.

The $$$ did go into the pockets of the research lab in WUHAN CHINA where the pandemic originated and was covered up by the Chinese government.  That is true.

The key is to CAREFULLY read the headline. It says,

“Obama Administration did not send $3.7 Million to the Wuhan lab”

No, they didn’t. The Obama Administration authorized the NIH to send the money to EcoHealth Alliance who sent it to Wuhan, China! See… truth is all in how you bend it! I have this mental picture of Pilate dramatically washing his hands in front of the crowd seeking to crucify Christ.

Let’s continue the gist of the article:

“The original five-year grant (2014) was reapproved by the Trump administration in July 2019. In total, $3,378,896 in NIH funding was directed from the government to the project. The project, which was established “to understand what factors allow coronaviruses, including close relatives to SARS, to evolve and jump into the human population,” yielded 20 scientific reports on how zoonotic diseases may transfer from bats to humans.”

Okay, first I love ‘funding was directed from the government to the project’. It is not the government’s money. It is yours and mine. Uncle seems to forget sometimes.

Twenty reports for $3,378,896 is just under $169,000 for each report over a period that may go back to 2002. If so, that is almost one report per year! WOW! I hope they get a chance to rest!

At first I thought… I have no idea why President Trump renewed the grant. I am guessing because someone with the position and tenure of Director Fauci said, ‘we NEED this!’ and that Fauci probably said the same thing to President Obama. A CEO, a president, COO has to trust the experts around him;but, he also has to know how to ask questions. Not enough questions got asked and if they were asked, somebody did a heck of a snow job in answering them. What do you think, Director Fauci? But, wait… What exactly did President Trump approve in 2019? Let’s see.

Now EcoHealth says they only got two grants for about $600,000 from NIH as a fee for the collection and analysis of viral samples. That was broken down for USA Today by EcoHealth saying that “in 2014 about $133,000 was sent to the institute in Wuhan the first four years and $66,000 in the past year. In the second grant, approved in 2019, about $76,000 was budgeted for the Wuhan Institute though no money was sent before the grant’s termination.” (emphasis mine) I cannot tell by the way it reads if that is $133,00 was sent each year for four years plus $66,000 in 2019. That only adds up to about a half a million at the most, so where is the other $3.2 million?

If we sum up Brown’s and Hjelmgaard’s story, it seems to sound like President Trump reauthorized this $3.7 million dollar grant to the woohoo labs, but he really, apparently, only approved $76,000 which was never finalized and no money was spent.

EcoHealth Alliance has a vast number of corporate partners from the U.S. and worldwide including East China Normal University, King Saudi University, centers in Thailand, Malasia, and UCDavis in California. The list is extensive and I encourage you to checkout their website at ecohealthalliance.org/partners. Of course it includes in its whose-who, the CDC and NIH.

I have already shown that the title of the article is misrepresentative and, of course, as a writer, I know that the authors are often at the mercy of the editors who like to spruce up the headline for ‘grab points’. Still, it seems a trifle dishonest and absolutely misleading. The Obama Administration did authorize $3.7 million dollars of yours and my money to go for the purpose of finding out if bats prefer Corona, I mean, if bats can carry coronavirus and transfer it to humans.

How many non-cave dwelling, non-ultra Goths in the U.S. spent any quality time with bats? How many us have them on the rotisserie grill for a mid-summer get together (not this year, though). I get it, though. One cave dwelling, bat breath belching bozo bites a sick bat and it spreads. The disease is awful, I’m not making fun of that. It is horrible and those responsible for bringing it to us deserve whatever justice permits. But, did the research teach us anything other than do not eat, nocturnal, upside-down hanging, radar directed, bug devouring flying rodents?

What did the tax-payers get for the investment?

20 reports over maybe 18 years at right around $169,000 per report it better be A+ material here…

We learned the answer to Question 1: Can bats transfer COVID 19 to humans. That is a BIG YES!!

Follow-up question: What about the grant being approved in 2014 and a moratorium on those grants in 2015, but it remained operational with Director Fauci apparently at the helm? Was this a way for him to continue his pet research after Homeland Security said, ‘no more’?

Question 3: There is such a disparity in how much money the grant awarded, how much EcoHealth says they got. So, where is the rest of the money? Maybe it is hidden in the bat cave!

There are more questions posed by the ‘Fact Check’ article than are answered. It seems to me, and this is just my personal opinion, but somebody ought to pick up the Bat Phone and have a sit down talk with Director Fauci. I am particularly concerned about whether or not there was a moratorium on such research and if NIH, under Fauci’s watch, circumvented federal mandates to keep the research going through the slight of hand only possible through government grants.

Perhaps the RIDDLER would pose a question like, ‘Who can control all the research on a possible source for a pandemic, control all the funding for the research, be in a position that would permit obfuscation of federal moratoriums while selling the need for the research to the highest levels of government and then prognosticate that within a few years the next president would face a pandemic from an unknown source?’

The media watch puppy, “Truth or Fiction” reports that it is absolutely true that Fauci predicted this pandemic in 2017. Here is the quote,

 January 11, 2017

“Anthony S. Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said there is ‘no doubt’ Donald J. Trump will be confronted with a surprise infectious disease outbreak during his presidency.”[ii] It may have been a surprise to everyone else; but, I believe, Dr. Fauci knew exactly what was coming and maybe, just maybe, he even knew when. If so, that raises his culpability to the highest level. It is my hope that justice will prevail, if that is truly the case.

TREE of LIBERTY

May the lessons of the Spring of 2020 give us wisdom, encourage us to use our own common sense and embolden us to stand for what we know to be right.

If you enjoy writing, like I do, there are times when something comes to mind and it almost writes itself as you sit before the blank ‘paper’ on the computer screen. The text flows like a mountain stream, careening over rocks and splashing into small pools as it winds its way down to the valley. Other times, there is a tug inside you, letting you know there is something you are to write and you hope it will burst forth like that stream and give you what you are to say. Still though, at times the tug is just that, a tug. There is a piece you are to write but no matter how long you stare at that blank screen, the only thing that envelopes you is how blank the screen truly is. Instead of a mountain stream you feel like a dustbowl farmer following a diviner with his crooked y shaped  stick, hoping he will find a trickle of water somewhere! You couldn’t put two sentences together to make an interesting opening line if the threat of three more weeks of quarantine hung over your head! If there were no tug, no sense of something worth writing and, more importantly, something worthwhile for others to read, it would be no big deal. Without the feel of something to write, you turn off the computer and go take up couch-potato duty. Thankfully, revelation struck almost simultaneously with me stubbing the pinky toe of my foot on the leg of my desk. Of course, it was the same foot that carries the weight of the recovering broken ankle. Such an event is the confluence of the Laws of Physics and the Laws of Natural Stupidity.

Like many Americans, if I see come across my news feed another COVID-19 update, I will not be responsible for my actions. Anyone who sees a desk or laptop computer come sailing out of my study window or an I-phone hurled from my F-150 at 70 mph will know that likely, the saturation level for COVID-19 news has been breached. It is difficult enough to deal with America’s 24/7 news casts which have as many talking heads as there are opinions. When there is no new news, the editors and producers beat the bushes looking for someone who has trained their pet to don a mask and protective gear whenever it goes out to do its business.

At the risk of violating my own restriction and perhaps stretching the limits of my personal sanity just a bit further, there is something I would like to explore not about COVID-19 but because of it. I promise not to even refer to the 19 word again. If I do so, may the writing gods Penna and Pencilius  and their elder minions, White-us Outus and Carbona Paperia, wreak havoc upon my writing forever more.

Most have seen a shortened version of a quote by Thomas Jefferson from a letter he penned while serving in Paris. A few know the background and some know the extended version of the quote. It is replicated here.

“And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms… The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”

Thomas Paine

A bold statement for any man in those days and particularly one serving as a representative of his fledgling country. Jefferson wrote this in a letter dated November 13, 1787, to William S. Smith who was in London. It reflects upon poetry by Thomas Paine. The ballad was written in 1775 upon the eve of the American Revolution. In the ballad he paid homage to a 130 year-old elm tree that stood in Boston Commons, under which, according to historians, colonists gathered to discuss the events leading to revolution. He  dubbed it Liberty Tree. The first stanza reads:

“In a chariot of light, from the regions of the day,
The Goddess of Liberty came,
Ten thousand celestials directed her way,
And hither conducted the dame.
A fair budding branch from the gardens above,
Where millions with millions agree,
She brought in her hand as a pledge of her love,

And the plant she named Liberty Tree.”

Liberty Tree on Boston Commons

Delicate is the balance of the branches of the Tree which upholds a diverse nation of peoples gathered in unique states, each united together ‘with the consent of the governed to permit representatives to conduct national affairs for their common good. The sacred document ratified by the diverse states permits the national government to do only those few things enumerated within this Constitution. In times of national crisis, certain powers are given to both the federal government and the state-houses of the individual states which can impose upon and restrict the rights of the individual citizen when it is deemed as in the best interest of the common good. The viability of such decrees are tenuous at best and it is very much a sure bet, those who find themselves wielding such new power will do two things.

First, they will stretch the permission they have been given to decree from on-high too far. It will come almost to the breaking-point of the citizens’ willingness to obey, even if it truly is for ‘their own good.’ The citizen unused to such restraint will chafe at the bit and will not take kindly to the whip,

Second, they will battle against the disassembly of their new-found power, seeking to maintain such power as the new status-quo. The public should be vigilant of any efforts to codify the new powers into legislation that would extend the usurpation of citizens’ rights beyond the crisis for which they have been approved.

These two axioms are all but written in celestial stone as the negative result of the extension of power to fallible mankind. Therefore, citizens must consider at great length the nature of crises for which they are willing to subject themselves and their posterity to a curtailing of their basic rights. Persons in positions of power can always find enough experts, enough people of a single-mind who urge the restriction of citizens’ freedoms. They will claim to endow power to those who know best  what is  good for the majority.  For that reason alone, citizens must refuse to permit such a transfer of rights from the many to the few except in the most grievous of circumstances and for a specific period of time. Yes, even under the declaration of a national emergency, there are limitations and such a forfeiture of rights cannot continue without the consent of the governed through their representatives. The people must also be vigilant to revoke their permission when the true common good dictates. To do less, is to invite tyranny where there once was a republic.

James Monroe understood the principle of certain basic rights which must never be traded for the promise of security. He wrote:

Of the liberty of conscience in matters of religious faith, of speech and of the press; of the trial by jury of the vicinage in civil and criminal cases; of the benefit of the writ of habeas corpus; of the right to keep and bear arms…if these rights are well defined, and secured against encroachment, it is impossible that government should ever degenerate into tyranny.

As an aside, for those who choose to twist the 2nd Amendment to refer only to the possession and carrying of firearms for sport and hunting or with some other imagined restriction, the mind of the founding fathers is clear in both Jefferson’s and Monroe’s quotes included here.  The same follows for James Madison’s and Patrick Henry’s statements which follow. Tyranny cannot exist minus the voluntary or coerced acceptance by the majority. The latter cannot be coerced when the inalienable rights of the citizens as outlined by Monroe in the quote above are kept sacrosanct and inviolate.

In a brief titled, Second Opinion two others from the earliest days of our nation’s founding make their stand on the bearing of arms and the keeping of American government (or any government) in check regarding the rights of the citizens, James Madison and Patrick Henry write convincingly on the subject.

James Madison, author of the Bill of Rights, wrote in Federalist No. 26: “The advantage of being armed…the Americans possess over the people of all other nations…. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several Kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.”

In Virginia, Patrick Henry argued: “The great object is that every man be armed…. Everyone who is able may have a gun. … Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel.” George Mason said of the need to bear arms, “To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”

These Founders are not talking about defending individual liberty from foreign invasion — but from tyranny within.[i]

May the lessons of the Spring of 2020 give us wisdom, encourage us to use our own common sense and embolden us to stand for what we know to be right.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

Patriots met at the 130 year old Liberty Tree in Boston during the late 1760s. The tree got its nickname from an act of rebellion that occurred on August 14, 1765.  On September 11 of that year, a plaque was placed on the elm tree commemorating the event with the words, The Tree of Liberty. [ii] The tree was chopped down by loyalists and British soldiers during the siege of Boston, August 1775 ten years following its rise to fame.

Author’s notes:

Circumstantial events lie the aligning of dates is cause for reflection. Notice the date the plaque was placed at the tree.

The aligning of the Laws of Physics and Laws of Stupidity (page 1 paragraph 1) do not take full responsibility for the inspiration of this piece. Next to the desk upon which I stubbed my toe is a credenza upon which I caught my balance. Resting in a locked case on that credenza is my custom made “We the People” Colt .45 1911 firearm. My epiphany came between the outbursts exclaiming pain and holding onto the table to keep from falling!

CYBER CORONA ? How Hackers are Using the Virus Scare to Steal Your Identity

15 MARCH 2020

THE FOLLOWING IS A REPORT ON THE CYBER IMPACT

OF THE CORONAVIRUS SCARE

Please before you shut down and ignore everything that is to follow, this is NOT a re-hash of the garbage which has been spilling out of the mouths of talking heads on every media outlet. The information being provided here is vital for anyone who knows someone who may be more susceptible to SCAMMERS particularly when it comes to matters of health, healthcare and the worries over the virus.

Usually, when we think of persons susceptible to scams involving health-care, the seniors in our family circles are the first on our minds. This is certainly true now because of the fear-mongering being thrown upon them in daily news casts and their conversations with friends and family. It is not only, though, seniors who are at risk. New information available through intelligence sources indicates that cyber-criminals; those who hack systems for information, others who are phishing for identification information and even those who are spreading their own kinds of viruses are using  COVID-19 as a means to their criminal ends.

Anyone who finds in their e-mail something looking even vaguely official claiming specific information regarding the Coronavirus Disease will likely open it. The user is then susceptible to malware, spyware, trojans and even backdoor programs which can completely destory any confidentiality of the users’ information. Malware can infect a computer program with a worm, virus or trojan. The differentiation is the virus will introduce a malware which attaches itself to a program and mass reproduces itself throughout the system and through the contacts the user has on their system. A worm is similar in destructiveness without the replication and trojans are “programs that, enter computers appearing to be harmless programs, install themselves and carry out actions that affect user confidentiality.”[i] Spyware can infiltrate a system to monitor all activity on a device and obtain information which breaches security software, exposing confidential identification information. Sources report that internationally placed hackers are using the scare tactics easily contrived due to Coronavirus to plant such software and even use backdoor programs to open cameras and microphones remotely, obtaining all types of confidential information. Backdoor programs literally allow the hacker into your system to have free reign of it and all the information contained therein.

Phishing expeditions work similarly, introducing themselves to the user by claiming some connection to a government entity involved in healthcare or emergency measures due to the ‘outbreak.’ Not relying on just software to do their work, they seek to solicit private information from the user through e-mail or by telephone contact following up an email. They claim to need to confirm the users’ information and current status for healthcare reasons. They may claim to be from a government health insurance program designed to protect the person from hospital costs due to Coronavirus, etc. In so doing, they obtain as much confidential identification information as possible from the user. They may also solicit funds for caring for others sickened by the disease or for an insurance policy for the user or their family against the costs affiliated with contracting the disease.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF and OTHERS comes back to the basics. Health officials are telling everyone it is all about limiting contact and avoid spreading germs. This is done by suppressing coughs and sneezes while being proactive. One way to be proactive is by thoroughly washing your hands. Such simple actions are key to battling the actual virus, the same is true in the cyber world.

LIMIT CONTACT Do Not Open any e-mail that comes from someone unknown to you and purports to be from a government or health entity about the Coronavirus. If you have already opened it and you become suspicious of its contents, DO NOT download any files. In fact, do not download any files that come from ANYONE other than someone you specifically know and trust.

AVOID SPREADING the virus. Run scans on your system daily, automatically scheduleds scans are good precautions any time. Also, scan your system immediately after you have opened something of which you are unsure. Make certain others in your on-line circles do the same and have them let you know if they receive anything from you that does not look right.

BE PROACTIVE  Running system scans and keeping malware protection up-to-date are like washing your computer’s hands. Keep up on the latest phishing and scam attempts which are prevelant.

COMMON SENSE is what will see us past the Coronavirus COV-19 scare, although, sadly there is little of it being displayed. Common sense will also help you prevent yourself or others you care for from being taken down by some virus hacker sitting in the dark in his mother’s basement somewhere in a suburb anywhere in the world.
