THE PURPOSE:
Above all, else perhaps, in the Book of Exodus is the story of redemption.
God redeemed His people from their slavery to the worldly captivity to a ‘satan’ in Pharaoh and He did it through the death of the first born male, both it and the lamb were pictures of Christ. The symbolism of so much of Exodus is rich and full of the story of God’s grace; one cannot read it without coming away and seeing the story of Messiah throughout.
Once redeemed, God provides, His people worship, and have life in Him as He brings them onward to the Promised Land..
