I always try to broaden my vocabulary and today a friend sent me this one:
Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) – a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.
Being a Christ follower, I cannot be a pessimist. Let’s face it, we have read the ‘end of the story’ and we know it is just the beginning! We know God wins and we, who know Him, are on the winning side! So it is impossible to be pessimistic. The Apostle Paul, however, also made it clear that we, as Christ followers, can certainly be realistic! The definition ‘Ineptocracy’ is very real in today’s world and sadly reflects what is going on in the political realm of our country. We understand that America is not a democracy. We are, in fact, a ‘Republic’ which means that we are led not by majority votes of the public but through a representative form of government. We need not allow ourselves to either (depending on your viewpoint) remain or become an ineptocracy. Until Christ’s return we will not live under a theocracy so we need to, as Christians, help make our Republic work.We must be diligent about the selection of our representatives, now more than perhaps ever in our history.
First and foremost is prayer. Pray, as this new year begins, that the believers in Christ who are also Americans will repent, return, and rely on Christ to heal our nation. We must ask for grace and forgiveness. We must follow the admonition of scripture that reads,
“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,” (1 Timothy 2:1-3)
As 2012 begins to unfold, may the peace of God that passes all understanding be with you and your household all through the year. May God bless you and may God bless America.
